The inaugural Cork Podcast Festival has announced more live events to be held across Leeside in October, including discussions with Blindboy of the Rubberbandits and wrestling star Bret 'The Hitman' Hart.
Promoters The Good Room had already launched the festival with the announcement that journalist Sam Bungey and documentarian Jennifer Forde would bring their West Cork podcast on the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier to Cork Opera House.
The latest line-up has unveiled more podcasts that will host live recordings at venues such as the Opera House, Crawford Art Gallery, Cyprus Avenue, and Plugd Records from Friday October 11 to Sunday October 13.
Blindboy will return to Cork with special guests for the Blindboy Podcast Live at Cork Opera House, and will also act as curator for the festival.
Among the events he has chosen for the festival are Taranoia: Live!, Comedian Tara Flynn’s Podcast at The Crawford Art Gallery Theatre, and Unexplained with creator Richard MacLean Smith.
Unexplained, a bi-weekly podcast about strange and mysterious real-life events that continue to evade explanation, has racked up 23 million downloads to date.
Organisers say the Cork appearance will discuss a story from the summer of 1971, when two young boys are digging about in their garden in the small northeastern village of Hexham in England discovered a pair of strange stone heads buried two feet underground.
Unexplained will feature as a double bill with Petrified - a horror anthology podcast that will be recorded in complete darkness and will tell the tale of a late-night radio show host in a remote station who receives increasingly disturbing calls from his listeners out in the dark.
The doubleheader takes place at the Crawford Art Gallery Theatre on Friday October 11.
Also on that date, Inside The Ropes presents An Evening with Bret 'The Hitman' Hart at Cyprus Avenue.
The five-time WWF champion, Intercontinental champion, Tag Team Champion, King of the Ring, and Royal Rumble winner will discuss WrestleMania matches and relationship with Vince McMahon to Owen Hart, WCW, The Hart Foundation and topics voted on by members of the audience.
Irish Metal podcast ‘The Metal Cell’ with Richie Le Faux, taking place at Plugd, is one of the free events that will take place over the weekend, as will The Independent Music Podcast at the same venue.
Pludg will also host The Futurist, a podcast hosted and produced by journalist Jo Linehan that uncovers some of the most exciting sustainable lifestyle brands in Ireland.
Tickets for the various events can be found on Uticket, Eventbrite, and the Cork Opera House website.
