The duo behind the popular 'West Cork' podcast will be in Cork for the first podcast festival in the city.
Investigative journalist Sam Bungey and documentarian Jennifer Forde of the 'West Cork' podcast will speak live at Cork Opera House on Saturday, October 12.
'West Cork' debuted on the Audible platform in February last year.
The podcast centres on the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier days before Christmas in 1996 near Schull in West Cork.
The creators of the true-crime podcast series, Mr Bungey and Ms Forde, will share behind-the-scenes stories and speak about attending
"We're so excited to be part of the first Cork Podcast Festival. It's an honour to be invited back to Cork," said Mr Bungey.
After 22 years there has finally been a criminal trial over Sophie's murder, but it was no ordinary trial and it's not at all clear what it will lead to.
"We sat in the courtroom in Paris recently as Ian Bailey was convicted of the murder, in absentia. We'll be talking about what that trial means, along with other developments, as we gather research for new episodes."
Time Magazine named 'West Cork' as one of its top 50 favourite podcasts. Mr Bailey was among the contributors to the 13-part series.
The London-based couple hosted a sold-out live recording at the West Cork Literary Festival last year, which Mr Bailey attended as an audience member.
Tickets for the October event, which cost €26.50 plus booking fee, go on sale 10am this Friday, July 12.
More events are expected to be announced for the Cork Podcast Festival over the coming weeks. The festival is presented by The Good Room in association with Cork Opera House.
