The customer is always right? People tell their most bizarre customer service experiences

Dealing with the public is no easy job.

You meet a variety of customers every single day, all with different wants and needs.

However, there are times when some encounters have left you saying- ‘Did that really just happen?’

A thread, started by @amylmrn, asked fellow users to share their unusual encounters.

What’s your most bizzare customer service experience? I have many but I think the best one was when a woman asked me if I was part time or full time and when I told her I was doing a Masters she said nobody would ever want to marry me because being over-educated was unattractive.

Sometimes directions can be the misunderstanding.

4 tourists tried convincing me they were staying in a hostel on Skellig Michael and that they were going to drive there that night.Took me half an hour to explain that there's nothing there but beehives and u CANT DRIVE THERE. Some people don’t have any patience.

Working in the local shop early one morning; long queue and only me serving. I notice an elderly man at the door collapsing and as I make to go help/call an ambulance the lady at the top of the queue screamed after me that I needed to serve her before I went to the man's aid. 🙃

In some instances the customers' expectation doesn’t match up with their retail experience.

Worked in a bookshop and one Christmas dude asks "do youse giftwrap" I said yes so he produced a mobile phone and asked me to wrap it

People just can’t seem to handle the truth.

In a call centre for Irish Water. 95 year old woman calls in about her bill. Thinks it's ridiculous she's getting a bill at her age. Then she demands I apologise for her being 95.
"You want me to apologise for you ageing?"
"Yes"
"No I'm not going to do that"

When in doubt, blame somebody else.

A women once complained about petrol having ruined her €400 shoes. It was a self service garage. She had spilled petrol on her expensive shoes and wanted to know what I was going to do about it.
