Pygmy marmosets stolen from Symbio Wildlife Park found alive

On Friday night, November 25, there was a break in at Symbio Wildlife Park in Sydney.

Three pygmy marmosets were stolen – Gomez and two babies.

The Wildlife Park said: “Our primary concerns are for the welfare of the entire family – in particular the four-week-old baby who is not yet on solid feeds and requires mums milk to survive.

“Pygmy marmosets are a highly social species and a very tight knit family, so this is very distressing on all the marmosets.”

The Wildlife Park has since recovered the two baby marmosets and they have been re-introduced to the family. Police found them in a vehicle.

7 News Sydney reports that Gomez was found alive in a box outside a vet’s office today.

The park has closed the pygmy marmoset exhibit to let the family recover and has said that the marmosets are hungry, scared and anxious after the ordeal. They are hoping the family can make a full recovery.

The video below shows the marmosets before they were stolen.
