The official ‘Force Awakens’ trailer is here and will make you fall in love with Star Wars again
By Greg Murphy
It’s almost upon us - the moment you have been waiting for more years than you care to admit. With less than two months to go, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has released it’s official trailer.
With more hype surrounding it than almost the movie itself, the trailer dropped last night around 3am GMT during ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
Now it wouldn’t be a Star Wars trailer if we didn’t take a look at a few different pieces of it and try to figure out what they mean.
Prepare yourself for 2.35 of pure emotion.
We’ll give you a few minutes to cool down if you want….
Let’s begin shall we?
The trailer opens on the desert planet of Jakku and focuses heavily on Daisy Ridley’s character Rey.
It wouldn’t be a Force Awakens tease without a mysterious voice or two and the first one we here talking to Rey sounds very like Lupita N’yongo.
Attention now turns to Finn, played by John Boyega. We see the recycled footage of him removing his stormtrooper helmet but also, what we could probably assume, his tie-fighter (which have got a sexy new chrome upgrade) crashing down onto Jakku.

Finally we get our first proper look at this films main villain, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
“Nothing will stand in our way. I will finish, what you started.”
We already know that he is a Sith worshipper, specifically Darth Vader, What is the mission that Vader started?
Is it the destruction of all the Jedi, or the light side of The Force?

The ominous look clip of Vader’s burned helmet suggests that this could be a kind of revenge mission but only time will tell.
Ok, let’s take a quick break from reading into things and just appreciate some Millennium Falcon action.

Han Solo is back, hey everybody Han is back ( and he still looks pretty bad ass) even though his character has got some pretty deep dialogue here.
“It’s true, all of it. The dark side, the Jedi. They’re real.”

What does his little speech mean? It’s definitely not just the ramblings of a crazy old man.
But, what then? Does it mean that in the 30 years since the Battle of Endor that the galaxy has forgotten about the Jedi, and The Force?
This could be a similar cue up to the original Star Wars movie when there were believed to be none left of the Jedi religion other than Darth Vader.
As we come to the end, let’s just take a look at some of the sweet actions scenes that JJ Abrams will be bringing us for Christmas.

But wait, there’s more!

A face off between Kylo Ren and Finn looks inevitable with the latter using what looks like Luke Skywalker’s lost lightsaber (previously his father Anakin’s) which may explain Kylo Ren’s interest in this scene.
Wait a minute…
Where’s Luke?
Besides for that brief second of him reaching out to R2D2 there isn’t sight nor sound of him in this entire trailer!
What’s JJ Abrams trying to hide with the character? We already know he will play a significant role in this movie - him being the last of the Jedi and all that - but we haven’t seen him yet.
For those of you who were paying attention to our previous article, he also didn’t appear in the theatrical poster.

Looks like we are going to have to wait until December 17 to find out what’s the story with Luke Skywalker.
