This poor Tipp girl was so nervous, her mam had to slide her Leaving results under her door
As we all know, opening that Leaving Cert results envelope is a pretty nerve-wracking experience.
And for one Tipp girl, she couldn't bring herself to even look at her results without the help of her mam and a lucky plant.
No really.
Mary Theresa Glendon, 20, from Clonmel was so overwhelmed yesterday that she locked herself in bedroom and Brid, her mother, had to slide the results under her door.
You see, Mary Theresa has her heart set on doing Nursing in Kingston College in London and when she finally saw what she had got, she and her mother were overjoyed. Hence all the excited jumping and screaming.
But why is her mam holding that plant?
The video was filmed by her brother Liam and he told us about its significance:
"The little plant she is holding, she grew it for Mary T during the year (she brought back a twig of a plant from Kingston ) and named it after the college (Kingston University) which Mary T had wanted to attend.
"It died during the year but had a sudden growth spurt towards results day. Surely a good omen."
A good omen indeed and while it might seem slightly odd to others, Liam just wanted to say that although she's a little superstitious, "for the record my mother is not a raving lunatic".
We believe you, Liam - but all Irish mammies are a little cracked.
That's why we love them!
