The Kruger National Park in South Africa really lets you get up close and personal with the wildlife - maybe a little too close.

And we're not talking about monkeys and giraffes - more like getting caught between a lion and its prey.

Granted you have the protection of your car but it still looks pretty intense.

In this video filmed by a family driving through the reserve, you can see a kudu (a type of antelope) suddenly leaps onto the road. And the reason for its panic quickly becomes clear - it's being pursued by two male lions who run straight past the car.

In full view of the family's car, the kudu slips allowing the lions to pounce on their prey.

And then they get down to eating.

Some online commenters have criticised the park for allowing so many cars through, arguing that it is disruptive to the wildlife.

Kruger National Park is one of South Afirca's oldest and largest game reserves with designated roads that you can drive through yourself on what they call a 'self-drive safari'.
