This bright green, slimy sea creature is giving the internet nightmares

Here's something new to haunt your dreams…

A video of a mysterious long green sea creature has been doing the rounds online as people recoil and collectivively ask 'what the hell is that?'.

The footage was shot in Taiwan by Wei Cheng Jian who was fishing in the port of Penghu when he spotted the alien-looking creature.

It's equal parts fascinating and revolting.

The Telegraph speculates that it could be a ribbon worm, or Nemertea.

Ribbon worms usually live underwater but sometimes venture onto land and favour cool, damp places. The pink tube is called a probiscus which it uses for hunting and feeding - it covers its prey in a poisonous grey mucus, paralysing it.
