Kitty Cotter is a retired teacher from Bandon and she's 101 years old.

Her granddaughter Ca O'Donoghue posted this video of Kitty explaining why she's voting yes in the upcoming Marriage Equality referendum to Facebook.

"I am 101 years old. I believe in the equal rights for all our citizens. Therefore, I will be voting yes in the coming referendum"

The video has been viewed more than 40,000 times since being uploaded yesterday with commenters calling her inspirational.

Another family member wrote that she couldn't be "prouder to be this incredible woman's granddaughter. Imagine, shes such a strong catholic faith but still so open minded."
