Dublin bar uses Facebook to shame rowdy customers into paying their bill

A Dublin bar has successfully used social media over the weekend to shame some rowdy customers into paying for damage and the bill they skipped out on.

The Smithfield branch of Oscar's Café Bar posted the below pic to their Facebook page on Saturday after three punters failed to pay their bill on Friday night. The three lads had been drinking gin and tonics all night without any trouble when things suddenly took a turn for the worse. As well as an unpaid bill, the men also caused €300 worth of damage in the bathroom.

Understandably annoyed, the bar issued an ultimatum on Facebook - pay the bill or the three guys' unpixelated faces from the CCTV would be posted online for everyone to see. The Gardaí were also informed.

And the threat worked.

Yesterday, an envelope, signed only 'K' arrived at the bar containing the money and a handwritten apology.

"Anita,

Sorry again for all the damage we caused Friday night. I'm also sorry for any personal distress we caused you personally.

K."

Oscar's have said that while it 'doesn’t excuse the actions of these individuals… it’s a small victory nonetheless'. But some commenters online feel that the apology does not go far enough and the three should face further consequences for their actions.
