'Remarkably stupid' Irish guy fined after getting stuck in Australian nightclub's air vent
When Hugh McMahon was kicked out of the Sin City nightclub on the Gold Coast not once but twice, he didn't give up and head home.
Oh no. He had a better idea.
The 18-year-old Irishman who is in Australia on a year-long working visa decided to sneak back into the Surfer's Paradise club through an air vent.
And he got stuck.

Wedged in there for 90 minutes, he was finally freed after other club-goers heard his cries for help and emergency services were called.
Appearing before a Queensland court this morning, McMahon pleaded guilty to willful damage, trespass and failure to leave a premises. He was fined by magistrate Ron Kilner who noted that it was a “remarkably stupid” thing to do whether he was drunk or sober.
McMahon was ordered to pay $900 (€636) in fines and $1700 (€1200) in restitution - with $500 going to cover the cost of a non-essential call-out for Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and $1200 going to Sin City for damage to the roof.
