Festival weather will improve, Longitude fans told

Meteorologist Siobhan Ryan has offered some words of reassurance to revellers heading to the Longitude festival in a rainy Dublin today.

"The day should generally improve we're probably out of the woods now once late morning arrives," she said.

"But, that said, there's still the possibility of a few heavy bursts later today, and it's going to be quite humid, fairly warm."

The three-day series of concerts takes place in Marlay Park in Rathfarnham.

The likes of Bastille, Sam Smith, Disclosure, The 1975 and Massive Attack are set to play at the event this weekend.

Gates open at 1.30pm this afternoon, with patrons being advised to plan and book return travel arrangements in advance.

Ruth Jephson of AA Roadwatch has outlined some of the public transport on offer to the venue.

"There are a number of bus services providing transport," she said.

"Kelly Travel are providing services from Limerick, Cork and Tipperary and a shuttle bus will be travelling from Dublin City Centre to Marlay Park departing from Custom house Quay about every half an hour from 1pm.

"For those planning to use Dublin Bus, then routes, 16, 116 and 161 would be most suitable for access to the Grange Road entrances to Marlay Park."
