Medical personnel were called to scene in Jamaica, Queens at around 9.55am yesterday morning, after the man apparently sustained the knife injury in a fight outside, the New York Daily News reported.
Witnesses said the man was standing in the street with the knife sticking out of his back after he was stabbed. An NYPD spokesman said it wasn't clear if the stabbing happened inside or outside the restaurant.
Shocked onlookers took pictures and shot footage of the man which were posted to social media.

"The guy came in and he was standing there with a knife sticking out of his back." a witness told CBS News.
"It was a kitchen knife."
The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was reported to be in serious condition.
Police are looking for at least two men he is believed to have been arguing with before he was stabbed.
