Our five favourite (non-football) bits from the World Cup so far

From over-excited physios to Japanese manners, the tournament has provided heaps of entertainment - even if you're not that into football.

Our five favourite (non-football) bits from the World Cup so far

It's only been a few days but between own goals and surprise results, it's already been an eventful World Cup.

And it has been almost as exciting off the pitch - which is lucky for those of us that are maybe not as invested in the actual football as others.

There's no other event like it to for bringing out the best and worst in countries across the world and it makes for surprisingly enjoyable viewing.

So here are five non-football related things that have caught our inexpert attention so far.

1. Japanese people have excellent manners

They even brought their own bags! How thoughtful.

2. The Ivory Coast fans either brought mannequins or are really good at standing still

We're not really sure what's going on here. But we like it.

3. Even if you're not watching the match, in Sao Paulo, you'll always know when Brazil scores

The whole city flares up with cheers, honking and music. Exciting!

4. Over-excitement can be dangerous

Poor, poor Gary Lewin. The England physio is said to be very disappointed - he is on his way back to England after breaking his ankle celebrating Sturridge's equalising goal against Italy on Saturday.

His wife blames the astroturf.

Former English Captain Rio Ferdinand got himself into trouble after tweeting that the physio should 'man up'.

He has since apologised.

5. These NSFW photos of the Croatian team.

The Croatia squad have refused to comment on these leaked photos of some of the players relaxing by the pool on Saturday.

No comment necessary.

So it's going to be a fun month, everyone!

But some of us are just never going to learn the offside rule - accept it.
