Storm chaser struck by lightning; gets it all on video
You'd imagine that being being a professional storm chaser comes with its fair share of occupational hazards.
Well, storm chaser Scott Shepard found out the hard way when he was struck by lightning but, incredibly, lived to tell the tale.
Scott was filming a rainbow while chasing a storm in South Dakota. He and his friend pulled over and Scott stuck his arm out the window to record the storm with his smartphone.
Bad idea.
Lightning struck his arm, sending his phone flying. His phone continued to record, but the lightning strike completely disabled his car and another vehicle passing by. It also blew a hole in the road.

Scott was left with a sore arm but is otherwise OK. He told today.com that he doesn’t think he was hit directly.
“If the full current went through my arm, there would be an entrance and exit wound,” he said. “I got shocked pretty hard, but it was not the whole bolt of lighting hitting me.”
If we were him, we'd be doing the Lotto this week. That is some serious luck!
And we might stop chasing storms.
