This guy thinks that if you use a smartphone too much, you will probably die alone. He may be overreacting.

Video warning against dangers of social media goes viral

A Youtube video that has been viewed more than 26 million times urges everyone to ‘look up’ from the smartphone and reconnect with the physical world and with each other.

In this spoken word piece, film-maker Gary Turk laments the effect social media is having on our relationships, saying that we've become "a generation of idiots, smart phones and dumb people".

While we’re all for having conversations face to face and going outside, we don’t think the rise of social media signals the demise of social interactions.

Social media is used by people to talk to other people. And to argue that we will end up dying alone, childless and with a lifetime of regrets seems a little ridiculous.

So what do you think? Is this video a fair analysis of our reliance on smartphones and tablets? Or is it just some emotional blackmail designed to go viral?
