There's an army troop carrier for sale in Laois
If you've got €10k to spare and want to go where roads can't take you, this might be right up your alley.
Merdyn Kennedy (DoneDeal user n kennedyb) is selling a Volvo BV 202 articulated all-terrain vehicle, originally developed by the Swedish army to carry troops through snow and bog in the frozen north.
This bad boy, which was in production from 1962 – 1981, can cruise over obstacles a metre high, go up a slope of 60%, and rumble through water without any hassle. And, because of its broad wheelbase, it exerts less pressure on the ground per square inch than a human - despite weighing 3.2 tons and being 20 feet long.

Oh, and it floats on water, too, with a speed of 1.25 knots, so lakes and rivers will form no obstacle to you and your nine passengers. It's also been used by Canada, Finland, Norway, and the UK.
Merdyn says he's selling the vehicle as he hasn't had the time to use it much, and is working on a new project now. It's also, he told us, road-legal and requires no special licence.
"This machine is out of the army and is now UK registered. I just never got around to Irish registering," he said in the advert.
"This is in very good condition and has almost new tracks. Everything works as it should."
