Baby boy for Arquette and girlfriend

David Arquette has welcomed a second child into the world.

The 42-year-old actor and his girlfriend Christina McLarty welcomed their baby son Charlie West into the world on Monday at 12:35pm in Los Angeles.

The tiny tot weighed a healthy 8lbs 7oz and is said to be doing "well" following his birth.

Arquette 's representative told PEOPLE.com: "Mum, dad and baby are doing well.

"They appreciate all of your well wishes and thank you for respecting their privacy at this time."

Arquette, who also has nine-year-old daughter Coco with his ex-wife Courteney Cox, recently admitted that he was keen to give his son a "traditional" name.

He said previously: "I think we will go with something a little more traditional. I've been a bit cryptic about it. It's going to be the name of my grandfather used to play."

Meanwhile, Arquette is looking forward to seeing McLarty adapt to motherhood and watching the tot growing up.

He said earlier this year: "It's all new, but it's all beautiful. Playing catch, making [his son] laugh, and seeing my girlfriend Christina being a mother for the first time and all the joy and love that it's going to bring her and me."
