Hilarious Irish video takes aim at internet banking, nails it

Ever been frustrated by the number of hoops you have to jump through in order to check if you've been paid yet?

Hilarious Irish video takes aim at internet banking, nails it

Ah, online banking.

Never has one onstensibly simple service promised so much in benefit - freedom from the tyranny of queues and opening hours! - and delivered so much in frustration.

If you've ever had the feeling that the whole thing is just that little bit too bloody complicated than your average joe has time or energy for, then this great little video will have you nodding sagely at the screen.

It takes aim at AIB - but really, could apply to any of them.

Nailed it.

Made by freelance filmmaker James McDonnell (24) and Trinity neuroscience student Vanya Eccles (22), the short was the winner of both the Audience award and the overall Best Film award last night at the Firehouse Film Contest in Dublin, a monthly showcase for new short films.

"It's based on how my grandmother sees the modern world," James told breakingnews.ie.

"That every system that is supposed to make things easier just seems like a cyber-techno nightmare."

The short was a collaborative effort between the two, and their first attempt at a film.

"We've made a few improv sketches but this was our first project writing/shooting/editing together," Vanya added.

"We shot it over the past two weeks in a flurry whenever we were free."

Nicely done, gentlemen. Nicely done.
