Even the president has to queue for the bank machine
He may well be one of the giants of Irish public discourse, a politician of storied distinction, a poet and scholar of some reknown and of course our head of state - but when he runs out of readies, even Michael D Higgins has to queue up for the bank machine.
We can't quite put our finger on why but there's something quite adorable about these shots of MDH, taken on Dublin's Baggot St yesterday and posted to Twitter by Awnings of Ireland.

Is it because the sight of our snowy-haired Uachtaráin toe-tapping at the drinklink underlines his man-of-the-people credentials?
Or the fact that we just want to pick him up and snuggle him?

Either way, you can bet your presidential pantaloons that you wouldn't catch any other world leaders checking their balance in broad daylight (except maybe that guy in Uruguay who lives on a farm),
You can keep your Obamas, your Putins and your Popes - MDH is our man.
