Angry bull elephant overturns a car in Kruger National Park
Footage has emerged of an angry bull elephant charging and overturning a tourist couple's car in South Africa's Kruger National Park.
The dramatic images, filmed on December 30 in the park by tourists in a car behind, show the elephant trample on a blue Volkswagen Polo.
One of the car's passengers has been identifed as a UK teacher, who was stabbed in the thigh by one of the elephant's tusks when it penetrated the vehicle.
Sarah Brooks, from Lincolnshire, was released from hospital yesterday, according to the BBC.
A man accompanying her in the car sustained 'less serious injuries' in the attack
Sadly, the elephant was shot by rangers after the incident, with a park spokesman saying it was not the first time it had demonstrated aggressive behaviour.
"The elephant had to be put down," , SANparks spokesperson Ike Phaahla told South Africa's News24.
"Since it was in its musth phase (when elevated testosterone levels during the breeding season cause it to became aggressive), the elephant had been in a fight with another dominant bull before and was very aggressive," Phaahla said.
