The trailer for Homeland season 3 is out

Welcome back Carrie and Brody, we missed you. And Saul. We missed you too, Saul.

Right, where were we?

The Homeland season 2 finale knocked our socks off last year, with CIA headquarters at Langley decimated by a car bomb planted in Brody's SUV.

Al-Qaida claim responsibility for the boming and release a clip of Brody's so-called confession, Carrie helps Brody split towards what looks like Canada and the season closes with Saul, now the ranking head of CIA, praying over the bodies of those killed by the bomb.

(There's a lot more, but that's the general gist)

Now, here's the trailer for season 3.

The music is 'To Build a Home', by The Cinematic Orchestra, piano-led melancholia fans.

We have no idea what any of it means, and it throws up more questions than it answers, but we're looking forward to finding out.

Homeland returns to US TV on September 29 and will follow on RTÉ Two.
