Boffins developing 'alcohol cure' pill
You’ve heard of hangover cures – but what if you could pop a pill to stop being drunk in the first place?
According to new research by UCLA professors, an enzyme treatment given to mice saw their blood alcohol levels reduce significantly.
As reported in Professor Yunfeng Lu in Nature Nanotechnology, the proposed “antidote to alcohol” would be “almost be like having millions of liver cell units inside your stomach or in your intestine, helping you to digest alcohol”.
Similar methods could even be used to find a cure for male pattern baldness by breaking down dihydrotestosterone (commonly referred to as DHT).
