Comedian Alan Carr is quitting his Radio 2 UK show, it was annnounced today.

Comedian Alan Carr is quitting his Radio 2 UK show, it was annnounced today.

The TV chat show host, who presents a Saturday evening slot on the BBC station, joined Radio 2 in 2009.

He said he had made the decision to hang up his headphones because he wanted his weekends back and to concentrate on his Channel 4 show, 'Chatty Man'.

Carr said: “I’ve loved every minute of it but it’s time to reclaim my weekends. I wish Radio 2 every success but I’ll listen from my home in the future instead.”

The comedian presents Saturday evening programme 'Going Out With Alan Carr' with Melanie Sykes on Radio 2.

The station’s head of programmes, Lewis Carnie, said: “We’d like to thank Alan for his contribution over the past three years.

“Alan and his co-presenter, Mel Sykes, have made a terrific contribution to Saturday evenings on Radio 2.

“We’ll be announcing plans for a new Saturday evening programme shortly.”
