'X Factor' finalists sing favourites

The five' X Factor' finalists revealed their guilty pleasures – and musical heroes – in tonight’s live show.

Each act sang two songs for the first time in the competition, with some emotional performances from the young singers.

Teenager Janet Devlin forgot some of the words to her first song, 'Mmm Bop' by 90s one-hit wonders Hanson and appeared unwell when speaking afterwards.

Asked by judge Louis Walsh what went wrong, a pale-faced Devlin replied: “I thought I was going to throw up.”

If she was hoping for sympathy, she found none, with judge Gary Barlow telling the Tyrone singer: “Janet, it was a real mess, that performance.”

Her second song, 'Under The Bridge', by her favourite band Red Hot Chili Peppers, was “slightly better”, the Take That singer conceded, but fellow judge Tulisa branded Devlin “predictable”.

Girl band Little Mix were in tears at the end of their version of Christina Aguilera’s 'Beautiful', which also made their mentor Kelly Rowland sob with emotion.

The four-piece had opened the ITV1 show tonight with a medley of 'Baby', by teen heart-throb Justin Bieber, and 'Where Did Our Love Go' by The Supremes, winning plaudits from the judges. Barlow told them he “really enjoyed” their performance.

Barlow unwittingly kicked off a war of words with T’Pau singer Carol Decker however, by telling newly-returned Amelia Lily that he preferred her version of 'China In Your Hands' – because it was “in tune”.

Decker responded on Twitter, asking what Barlow’s “problem” was and adding: “I actually have perfect pitch.” She swore at him on the site and said: “I had to suffer a Take That concert for the sake of my kids this summer.”

She later urged viewers to vote for Amelia Lily – who chose Kelly Clarkson’s 'Since You’ve Been Gone' as her second song – and praised her performance.

Misha B’s version of 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' by Cyndi Lauper, complete with trademark rap, was deemed “brilliant” by Walsh, while Tulisa said: “Misha, there’s not one bad thing I have to say about that performance. It was amazing.”

Her musical heroes song was 'Killing Me Softly' by the Fugees. Tulisa continued to compliment the Mancunian, saying: “What a soulful performance. That song could have been written for you.”

Bookies’ favourite Marcus Collins sang 'I’m Your Man' by Wham! and was told by Walsh: “You tick every single box. You always deliver. Gary – this is a potential pop star.”

The Scouse singer was urged to believe in himself by mentor Barlow, who said: “You could win this.” Rowland told him: “You gave me everything tonight, honey.”

His second song was 'Lately', by Stevie Wonder, which he said his mum loves.

One of the finalists will be voted off in tomorrow night’s show.
