Mitch Winehouse: I fought off drug dealers to get Amy clean
Amy Winehouse’s father says the fight to get her off drugs often turned physical as he tussled with the drug dealers and gangsters who were supplying his daughter with them.
Mitch Winehouse said that his daughter finally budged once she saw how hurt her family was.
Amy, who had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, was found dead at her London home on July 23. Her father is launching a youth charity, The Amy Winehouse Foundation, today which would have been the singer’s 28th birthday.
Mr Winehouse believes his daughter died of a seizure. He says she had them in the past.
He says he was “naive” about her drug use early on but knew there were negative influences in the group that surrounded Amy.
