Barlow baffled by Bowie busker bid

'The X Factor' judges are treated to an out-of-this-world performance from a would-be “musical superstar” in tonight’s show.

David Wilder performed a cover of the David Bowie classic 'Life On Mars' for the judging panel.

The 42-year-old busker said he had been trying to make it big since he was a teenager.

He said: “I am one of those who never gives up. I am 42 but who doesn’t want to be a musical superstar? I am so ready, I am too ready.

“Winning 'The X Factor' would open a few doors and get a bit of nice attention from the ladies, that reason alone makes it worth being here.”

The singer, who describes himself as being “42 going on 18”, impresses Louis Walsh but leaves Gary Barlow confused.

The Take That star said: “Bad tuning, bad timing, bad diction and no connection to the song... having said all that, I absolutely loved it.”
