Revellers gather for Electric Picnic

Traffic is heavy on the M7 this evening as thousands of revellers descend on Stradbally in Co. Laois for the Electric Picnic festival.

It is expected that more than 35,000 people will attend the three-day event.

The festival, which is the last big one of the summer, has headline acts like The Chemical Brothers and Arcade Fire.

Ronan Gilligan of AA Roadwatch has said traffic volumes are likely to remain heavy until at least 7pm.
