‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’ a treat for fans

Director: John Chu

Cast: Justin Bieber

You almost want to hate this film even before you see it, the story behind the rise and rise and rise and rise of teenage singer Bieber.

Come on, the kid was a mere 16-years-old when director Chu captured his 2010 Madison Square Garden concert … and he became rich and famous in the twinkling of a green eye. What’s not to hate?

Surprisingly Bieber comes across as a decent, level-headed young lad, supported by a loving family and a caring crew that keeps him grounded. He may be moderately talented but his vast army of fans – come on, the kid has 4.5m twitter followers – can’t get enough of him.

And here Chu, throwing in home videos to flesh out the concert footage, does his subject great service … if, on the other hand, you’re over the age of 13 you’ll probably hate the kid.

Come on!
