Rubberbandits losing race for Christmas number one

It looks like the marketing power of 'The X-Factor' will keep the Rubberbandits off the Irish Christmas number one spot this year.

Newly crowned 'X-Factor' winner Matt Cardle's single is outselling the internet hit 'Horse Outside'.

One of the Limerick duo, Blind Boy Boatclub says they are now taking some time off after a hectic few weeks, before coming back with some new tracks.

While 3.6 million Youtube hits will not make them rich, he says he is not bothered.

"We haven’t made a huge amount of money from it now to be honest now," said Blind Boy.

"But it will be worth our while in terms of we might get the odd gig out of it, d’ya know what I mean?"
