Cher Lloyd beat 'X Factor' winner Matt Cardle to the top spot in a bid to find the most talked about celebrity newcomer of the year, according to an internet survey.
Researchers put together a “digital buzz” list based on Google searches, Facebook, followers on Twitter and views on You Tube and the teenager from Malvern came ahead of second-placed Cardle.
Lloyd was the first act to be voted off in the final which was eventually won by Cardle.
The top four places all went to acts from the hit ITV1 talent show with boyband One Direction and Katie Waissel in third and fourth place respectively.
In fifth place was Paul the Octopus who became an unlikely star of the 2010 World Cup after appearing to correctly predict the outcome of games.
David Wilding, head of planning at media agency PHD which did the research, said compiling the list based on internet activity showed how celebrities had attracted peoples’ attention this year.
He added: “Nobody would have been able to predict this list this time last year – except perhaps Paul the Octopus himself.”
