Widdecombe 'breakdances' at Blackpool ballroom

'Strictly Come Dancing' star Ann Widdecombe appeared to have swapped ballroom for break-dancing as she practised for the show in Blackpool today.

The former MP, who has defied the odds to stay in the show, put in some serious floor-work as partner Anton Du Beke put her through her paces.

Ms Widdecombe, on her back with her legs in the air, appeared to have embraced hip-hop when some of her contemporaries will soon be considering hip ops.

The former British Conservative Party minister has become an unlikely hit on the show despite her lack of grace. She joined the rest of the contestants today on their annual pilgrimage to Blackpool – the home of ballroom.

Wearing a red woolly jumper with a Scottie dog motif, she and Du Beke were practising their samba routine for tomorrow night’s live show.

The pair will be dancing to the Tavares hit 'Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel'.
