Cattrall wants 'Corrie' part

Kim Cattrall wants a part in 'Coronation Street's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The 'Sex in the City' actress - who was born in Liverpool - admits she would love to appear on the famous ITV1 cobbles and follow in the footsteps of Hollywood legend Ian McKellen, who starred in the soap back in 2005.

She told Radio City 96.7: "'Coronation Street' is the soap that I am most familiar with. It would be fun. I know that Ian McKellen did one for a while.

"He was really chuffed about it and I thought that sounds like fun! I know they're coming up to a big anniversary too."

Current 'Coronation Street' stars are also desperate for Kim to join them, with Jane Danson - who plays Leanne Battersby - admitting she would love the actress to portray her mother.

She said: "Maybe when Leanne was little she was a bit down in the dumps and I think she could come back really glamorous and give Leanne a good telling off for messing about with Nick. I would love it!"
