Sigourney Weaver hints at 'Avatar 2' reprise

Sigourney Weaver has hinted she may return to 'Avatar 2'.

The 60-year-old actress - who portrayed Dr. Grace Augustine in the James Cameron-directed epic - admits that although her character died in the film, she may be make a return in some form.

Asked about 'Avatar 2', she said: "Well, I'm not at liberty to talk about it, but anything can happen in science fiction."

When questioned about the possibility of return to Ridely Scott's 'Alien' prequels, she told Collider.com: "No, I don't think so. I think my 'Alien' days are over. My 'Avatar' days are beginning."

During the first film, Dr Augustine - a scientist who is an advocate of peaceful relations with the native Na'Vi on the planet Pandora - dies from a gunshot wound and cannot be revived by a sacred 'Tree of Souls' because she is too weak from her wounds.

Sigourney has previously admitted she loved shooting the character using performance capture technology.

She said: "I think every science fiction film is so unique, I'd never done performance capture and the whole world of 'Avatar' was so fascinating that I felt like I was experiencing it for the first time.

"I mean it was so shocking because I didn't know think it would look like me, Sigourney, and it was just very funny."
