Coleen seeks comfort in retail therapy

Coleen Rooney kept the state of her marriage under wraps today as she opted for a dose of retail therapy.

There were no signs of face-to-face talks between footballer Wayne and his wife as she took her father and son shopping in Liverpool while he faced his Manchester United colleagues for the first time since allegations over his infidelity.

As the England striker emerged alone from his Cheshire home, Coleen was pictured with her wedding ring hidden beneath clothing.

Coleen made little attempt to avoid the waiting media as she left her parents’ house in Huyton, Merseyside, with her father Tony and 10-month-old son Kai to go shopping.

The columnist and mother of one was later spotted in Liverpool city centre shopping in Mothercare.

Meanwhile, Rooney was stony faced as he returned to the couple’s gated property in Prestbury after training with team-mates at Carrington training ground.

He was pictured in a hooded sweatshirt behind the wheel of his silver Overfinch Range Rover.

The footballer was back in training with his club for the first time since claims he paid £1,200 (€1,458) a time for sex with Jennifer Thompson, 21.

Her wedding ring appeared to be on show as she left Mothercare with shopping bags wearing a sleeveless black and white top and jeans.

There had been speculation that the couple would be holding crisis talks following his return from England duty in Switzerland.

The footballer had put his troubles behind him to score in the country’s midweek European Championship qualifier win.

Today’s shopping trip was Coleen’s first known outing since Miss Thompson’s parents sent “sincere apologies” to her yesterday.

Miss Thompson is said to have met the striker at Manchester’s five star Lowry Hotel for sex.

She also spent time with him at Manchester’s 235 Casino, she has said.

Since the allegations came to light on Sunday, Coleen has stayed at her parents’ home.
