Kavanagh through to Eurovision final
Ireland's singing reputation got a boost last night among fellow European crooners.
Last night Niamh Kavanagh won her place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest singing 'It's for You'.
The final will be broadcast tomorrow evening from Oslo.
Niamh won the Eurovision in 1993 when it was staged in Millstreet in Co Cork.
Azerbaijan is the bookies favourite to win the contest but the odds on an Irish win have been shortened.
It's the first time in four years that Ireland has managed to get through to the finals.
Journalist and songwriter John Waters is confident we will do well tomorrow.
"For the first time in a long time the Eurovision is probably going back to what it was pre-2004," Mr Waters said.
He said tomorrow's final will be "very interesting".
"We probably couldn't have a better hand as we stand."
