Erykah Badu tried to get arrested when shooting her latest video, it has emerged.

The R n’ B singer rips off all of her clothes in front of strangers for her song ‘Window Seat’ but wanted the video to be even more controversial, with her getting arrested for shooting it without a permit.

Video producers Coodie and Chike said: "We had bail money and everything. I think she really wanted to get arrested and even make a bigger message. You know what I'm saying?

"There were patrol cars all day, and I was hearing sirens, looking up and seeing some kind of sheriff's car or something.

“So I was like: 'This is gonna be interesting.' Her contingency plan was to get arrested - she was big on doing it."

The video was made in Dealey Plaza, a tourist hotspot in Dallas, US, where President John F Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

Police spokesperson Senior Corporal Janice Crowther told MTV: "They definitely did not get a permit. To shoot that video they would have had to specify what type of filming they were doing, what subjects they would use and any traffic control they would need."

Instead the video – which climaxes with Erykah being ‘shot’ and falling down ‘dead’ – was made in a “guerrilla” style with hidden cameras.

Erykah, 39, wrote on her twitter feed after shooting: "Was shot guerrilla style, no crew, 1 take, no closed set, no warning, 2 min, downtown Dallas, then ran like hell."
