‘Leap Year’ a decent yarn

If little else, this rom-com chick-flick certainly does a great job for the Irish tourist industry, the Auld Sod looks stunning.

As a film however it’s hardly original but then again it doesn’t offend - it’s simply a nice, pass-the-time yarn.

Adams plays highly successful Anna whose boyfriend is interrupted by a business trip before he can propose. She decides on the spur of the moment to follow him to Ireland – and to meet up with her father – and, it being Leap Year, propose.

Her journey becomes something of an adventure – stranded in Wales, she has to find a way across the Irish Sea, meeting the usual Oirish characters – and at the end she has to decide if the object of her affection is what she truly desires.

It’s a gentle, undemanding, OK sort of film with some laughs, some good moments and not much to remember after you have leaped from your cinema seat, put on your coat and headed for the exit.
