Cage fighter Alex Reid is favourite to win tonight’s 'Celebrity Big Brother' final.
Reid emerged from his on-off girlfriend Katie Price’s shadow during the contest to overtake footballer-turned-Hollywood actor Vinnie Jones in the race for the title.
William Hill said Reid was now “red hot 8/15 favourite” to win, with the remaining four contestants, singer Dane Bowers at 7/2, Jones at 9/2, Swedish dance music star Jonas Altberg, aka Basshunter at 12/1 and actress Stephanie Beacham at 25/1.
The bookmaker also slashed the odds of Reid and Price becoming engaged within 24 hours of leaving the house from 25/1 to 5/1 amid Reid’s rising popularity.
This year’s show is set to be the last shown on Channel 4 although the regular 'Big Brother' starring members of the public will air in the summer.
Following her eviction from the house on Wednesday, millionaire socialite Ivana Trump said Jones’s bossiness had “alienated” him from his fellow housemates.
Trump, 60, said his behaviour had changed over the course of the show, causing his popularity to plunge.
She said: “I like Alex – he’s down-to-earth, has a very good heart and we were friends because I appreciated his dedication to exercise. Dane is a nice guy.”
Her views on Jones were echoed by fellow evictee and glamour model Nicola Tappenden who also got the boot from the house.
On Wednesday, long-running 'Big Brother' presenter Davina McCall entered the house for the first time as a housemate – disguised as a chicken.
The costume had earlier been worn by Tappenden during a farmyard task which saw all housemates dress up and speak using animal noises.
McCall donned the costume after Tappenden was sent to the diary room to be told she was about to leave.
Jones was first to notice something was amiss, saying “that’s not Nic”.
Reid followed McCall, still in her outfit, to the bathroom as other housemates joked: “He thinks it’s his missus.”
She was then called to the diary room leaving the other housemates mulling over the identity of the chicken.
Once in the 'Big Brother' chair, McCall told 'Big Brother' “they were spooked” and added the other housemates were frightened about where Tappenden had gone.
She said: “It was pretty menacing. I never thought they’d feel threatened by a chicken.”
Outside the diary room, housemates speculated the chicken was in fact McCall.
Bowers said: “Davina always wanted to come into the house,” adding: “If it is you, Davina, you’re getting your butt kicked.”
Housemates finally learned the truth as 'Big Brother' ordered them all to remove their animal heads, revealing McCall under the costume.
Later in the diary room, McCall joked: “Vinnie scared me rigid.” She left the house after a few hours.
