'American Idol' winner announces engagement
Singer Carrie Underwood has got engaged, it has emerged.
The 'American Idol' winner – who has kept her year-long relationship with Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher largely under wraps – is set to marry, her publicist has revealed.
The 26-year-old singer is yet to set a date for the wedding but "the couple couldn't be happier" announced Jessie Schmidt on Monday.
The country singer - who had the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history with 2005's 'Some Hearts' – recently spoke about how her family got on really well with Mike.
She said: "They love me and I would hope my parents would think we raised a good, smart girl, so she's going to do the right thing no matter what it is."
Underwood also gave Fisher – who wears a number 12 jersey when playing - a very public shout-out in the sleeve notes of her current album: 'Play On', which was released on November 3.
She wrote: "Thank you number 12. You are the most amazing addition to my life! You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much! You make my life better in every way!"
