Classic Rock awards to reward Iggy Pop

Iggy Pop is to receive a Living Legend award.

The ‘Lust For Life’ star said he is “surprised and honoured” after learning he will be bestowed with the accolade at November’s Marshall Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards.

Iggy said: “I was surprised and really, really honoured to be recognised in this way by Classic Rock, which represents the most creative and sincere music genre of our times. I feel now that all those years of banging away in the dives and palaces of the weird universe of rock are finally adding up to something. The other people who have received this award are absolutely awesome, and I feel very lucky to be included.”

The 5th annual Marshall Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards take place in London on November 2.

Previous winners of the Living Legend accolade are Ozzy Osbourne, Jimmy Page, Alice Cooper and Motorhead star Lemmy.
