‘Inglourious Basterds’ a decent Tarantino outing
Director: Quentin Tarantino
Cast: Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, Eli Roth
Tarantino delivers his usual dark, violent and often quite funny package in this much-hyped WW2 drama, which is actually based on an untruth.
Pitt leads a group of American-Jewish soldiers in Occupied France against the Germans, causing bloodshed, fear and havoc.
In truth, there was such a commando unit but it was comprised of British Jews – many of whom had come from Germany – but since only the Americans appeared to have fought the Nazi during the war every brave deed, every success, everything is down to them.
That said it isn’t a bad film, a sort of revenge Western transferred to France … it isn’t, by the way, Pitt’s film, he’s overshadowed by Waltz’s quite brilliant portrayal of an evil Nazi.
Star Rating: 3/5
