‘Race To Witch Mountain’ a sprightly family romp

Jack (Dwayne Johnson), a one-time wheelman for the Mob, now drives a cab around Las Vegas.

During a daytime patrol he is shocked to discover two children, siblings Sara (Anna Sophie Robb) and Seth (Alexander Ludwig), in the back seat of his car.

They offer him a bundle of cash to drive to a remote cabin in the desert. Jack reluctantly obliges and, en route, the taxi is almost forced off the road by federal agents under the leadership of Burke (Ciaran Hinds).

Demanding answers from his passengers, Jack learns that Sara and Seth are extra-terrestrials who have come to Earth to save their dying planet.

Completely out of his depth, Jack joins forces with scientist Dr Alex Friedman (Carla Gugino) to help Sara and Seth return home.

‘Race To Witch Mountain’ is a special effects-laden reworking of the 1975 Disney adventure ‘Escape To Witch Mountain’.

Directed by Andy Fickman, this slick and sprightly revamp ticks all of the boxes with ruthless efficiency.
