Dannii backs Cheryl's girls to win 'X Factor'
Dannii Minogue is backing Cheryl Cole to win this year’s ‘X Factor’.
The reality TV judge said she has a “passionate feeling” about the Girls aged 16-25 category of singers, which will be mentored by Cheryl Cole – whose contestant Alexandra Burke won last year’s show competing in the same category.
Dannii – who will herself mentor male finalists aged 16 -25 - said: “Every category has strong contenders, but I feel passionate about the girls. I believe some stand-out performances are about to happen.”
Dannii also said the judging panel of the show – completed by Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell –has been so passionate about some acts they’ve resorted to pleading with the others to put them through to the next stage of the competition.
She said: "This year I feel we have all had our own strong opinions and have each pleaded for another judge to say a 'yes' so we can get someone through that we believe in. Hopefully this way, no talent has been left behind.”
While Dannii and Cheryl look after the Girls and Boys categories, Simon is looking after singers Over 25 and Louis is mentoring the show’s groups. This category has already thrown up early favourites to go far in the competition, including ‘88’, a pair curvy female singers and girl band Kandy Rain – who have already been hailed a UK version of the Pussycat Dolls.
‘The X Factor’ returns to screens on Saturday.
