Decent ‘A Perfect Getaway’ runs out of ideas

This features the perfect honeymoon in beautiful Hawaii, where nothing much happens to disturb the loving couple … well, except for a series of ghastly murders of other loving couples.

In a thriller that promises a lot of nail-chewing tension but falls into the trap of not quite knowing how to build to a satisfying climax, we meet newlyweds (Zahn and Jovovich) enjoying the sunshine island and teaming up with another couple (Olyphant and Sanchez) while slaughter is all around them.

But who’s making with all the threats and menaces? Here, in an over-eager plot, it could be almost anybody, even your best friends.

Not a bad chiller but one that looks as if it ran out of ideas long before it should.
