'Ice Age 3' a return to form

Lots of new character development for our heroes and heroines in the third of the excellent and very funny animated series - so much so that it’s hard to keep up.

Scrat (Wedge) finds love, and not with his beloved acorn; Mannie (Ramano) and Ellie (Latifah) are an item with expectations, Sid (Leguizamo) gets broody and then there’s the little matter of a strange underground world to be explored.

You don’t have to know about the storyline to any great degree, except that it doesn’t make sense (dinosaurs living underground?) but who cares when everything else is geared to snappy wit and rich entertainment?

Sequences usually begin to run out of steam by this stage but while the second of the series was disappointing it’s certainly third time lucky.
