Blanchett to play Maid Marian

Cate Blanchett is reportedly set to play Maid Marian in the new movie remake of 'Robin Hood'.

Variety reports that the Aussie actress will star opposite Russell Crowe, who is playing Robin Hood in the Ridley Scott directed epic, produced by Brian Grazer.

“They are both highly accomplished dramatic actors who are taken seriously playing rich characters in period pieces, but each has the ability to show you fun,” said Grazer.

The film, which was initially going to be entitled 'Nottingham', will begin production in the UK in early April and will centre more on the origins of Robin.
