Liam tips Coldplay for best new female award
Liam Gallagher today tipped Coldplay to clean up at the Brits – saying they would probably even be crowned best new female act.
Coldplay were nominated for four Brit awards and earlier this month they bagged three Grammy awards, including song of the year.
Gallagher called in to Johnny Vaughan and Gallagher’s wife Nicole Appleton, who was standing in for Lisa Snowdon on the 95.8 Capital FM Breakfast Show, to give his Brits predictions.
Asked who should win the British album gong, Gallagher said: “Personally, I’d go with the Ting Tings.”
But asked who would win, Gallagher said: “Well who do you think? Coldplay! They win everything don’t they?
“They’ll win the best new female act won’t they!”
In the British group stakes, Vaughan asked Gallagher if he was a Girls Aloud fan.
The Oasis frontman replied: “Not really no!
“They’re all right, you know what I mean? Some of their tunes are all right!
“Coldplay have got to win it haven’t they, I suppose.”
In the British male solo artist category, Gallagher tipped: “Paul Weller man!
“Ian Brown is a dude, I like them all.
“I think James Morrison is a top songwriter. Ian Brown is obviously the man but I think Paul Weller should get it man, his album is mega!”
Reminded by Vaughan that Will Young was also in the same category, Gallagher said: “Come on, man!”
Gallagher tipped Duffy to win British female solo artist.
Asked to comment on the best British live act contenders, Gallagher said: “I’ve never heard of Scouting For Girls – who are them lot man?
“It got to be the Verve mate. But I think Coldplay will win it as well.”
