Sheryl Crow's role as a single mum may have cost her the chance to join Fleetwood Mac.

Mick Fleetwood has spoken out about reports suggesting Crow was considered as Christine McVie's replacement in the band for 2009 tour dates, and admits motherhood may have ruined her chances.

Crow announced her Mac hopes last year, but Fleetwood and his bandmates have since insisted she isn't a part of their plans.

Fleetwood said: "Sheryl's an incredible talent, but she's started a family as a single mother and is still promoting her own album.

"Going off into the sunset with Fleetwood Mac for a couple of years just wouldn't have worked."
