Gamers get chance to run down Clarkson after lorry jibe

Lorry drivers offended by comments made by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson are being given the chance to run down and “kill” the presenter in a new computer game launched today.

Lorry drivers offended by comments made by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson are being given the chance to run down and “kill” the presenter in a new computer game launched today.

The online game allows players to control an animated Clarkson being chased by angry truckers.

It follows the 48-year-old presenter’s quip on his BBC2 show about lorry drivers killing workers in the sex industry.

'Run Clarkson Run' is designed by Glasgow games development company T-Enterprise.

As well as dodging lorries the miniature Clarkson grabs piles of TV licence payers’ cash.

Managing director Sadia Chishti said: “Jeremy Clarkson is a loveable rogue, but we think he’s overstepped the mark this time, so we figured we’d give truckers the chance for revenge.

“And not just truckers – the whole family can spend hours playing the game, running over and killing Jeremy Clarkson just for fun.”

Complaints about Sunday night’s broadcast in the UK today topped 1,800.

It saw Clarkson complete a lorry-driving task before commenting: “This is a hard job and I’m not just saying that to win favour with lorry drivers – it’s a hard job.

“Change gear, change gear, change gear, check mirror, murder a prostitute, change gear, change gear, murder. That’s a lot of effort in a day.”

Serial killer and former lorry driver Steve Wright was convicted in February of murdering five prostitutes in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The BBC did not respond to news of the game. A spokeswoman said the presenter was not available to comment.
